FOR COUNCILLOR TO GET INFORMAflON FROM WORKMEN "I hardly think it is the correct thing for a councillor to obtain information from the workmen on the job. Should he not go to the committee cncerned or to the engineer?" said Cr. O. H. Coleman at last evening's meeting of the Rotorua Borough Council. The remark was made apropos of a statement by Cr. J. Banks that he had obtained certain information regarding sewerage work at Whakarewarewa from a workman on the job. "It is the first time that * I have heard it said that it is wrong for a councillor to make enquiries regarding the spending of the ratepayers' money wherever he pleases. • So long as I am a councillor, I am quite sure that I shall continue to do so," rejoined Cr. Banks. "It is not the usual thing, Cr. Banks," remarked the mayor (Mr. T. Jackson) . "The usual procedure when information is required by a councillor, is for him to obtain it from the committee concerned. with the work or from the departmental ' officer in charge."
