BASKET BALL DANCE
PRESENTATION OF THE SFASON'S TROPHIES M,ADE. GAY SCENE AT MAJESTIC. Quite one of the most successful, as well as the most enjoyable, dances of the season was held by the Rotorua Basketball Association at th'e Miajestie Ballroom on Wednesday evening, the floor being filled to capacity. Mjulti-codourted streamers constituted the m'ain decorations in 'the ballroom, black and orange, the club's eolours, being' the predominating colour. In tthe supper-room, orange and black decorations had been artistically carried out. Punga ferns had ■been gracefully draped around the wall, with large gold and black butterflies giving'a striking effect to the green background. In the centre of each table a graduated trellis division interlaced with Jiapantese cherry biossom lenTt an ori■ginal air to the decorative scheme. Bowls of golden Iceland poppies provided a gay finish to the attractive decorations.
During the evening, Mr. E. G. Guy, on behalf of the executiye, congratulated the girls upon the successful season's activities and lalso emphasised the excellenlt work carried oui; hy the secratary, Miss D. Kingon. He a'lso congratulated the respective ■teams on their match successes during the season. Mrs. C. Managh, president of th'e association, then presented( the trophies land badges to members of the H.S.O.S. (A) team, winners of the S-aturday competilfcion, and the Waratah team, winners of the
Wednesday competition, and the seven-asdde tournep. , As a token of appreciaftion of her untiring efforts at all tim'es in the dnterest of the association, Mr. H. Langguth, on behalf of players, presented Mrs. E. G. Guy, chairwoman and chief organiser, with a handsome crystal decanter and glasses. During the evening, exhibition dances hy M'iss J. Urquhart and MisSMi. Fearnley were grealfcly appreciat ■ed. A Monte Carlo included on the prograrnme was won by Miss C. Greenhead and partner. Among those present were: — Mrs. C.
