SPECIAL HORSE SALE
There was a yarding of over one hundred horses at the Whakatane yards and buyers were present from the Waikato, Tauranga and Auckland and all parts of the district. Late prices were well sustained and there was practically a total clearance of all lots under the hammer. The auctioneers, the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, report having realised the following prices: — • Unbroken light draught geldings, £20 10s to £27 10s; unbroken light draught fillies, £17 to £20; light draught-mares in foal, £7 5s to £17 ; unbroken draught yearlings, £10 to £16 5s; draught farm horses, broken, £35 to £38 ; medium draughts, £26 to £33 10s; aged horses, £15 to £22; light draughts, £9 10s to £17 15s; hacks, £4 5s to £6 5s.
