COLORADO BEETLE

NATURAL ENEMY FOUND IN THE ORDINARY PETUNIA (Rec. 7.10 p.m.) London, October 9 The Times Paris correspondent says that the Colorado beetle potato pest, the appearance of which invariably leads to Britain banning imports from the country where it appeared, is apparently doomed as a result of a discovery made by the Abbe de Calle, a village priest. He permitted petunias to grow in his potato patch and found that the beetles immediately left the potatoes •for the petunias after which they died.' The Department of Pestology is investigating the matter.
