CHILLED BEEF

SUCCESSFUL SHIPMENT MADE FROM RIVER PLATE (Rec. 9.55 p.m.) London, Sept. 28. Presumably due to the success of the Australian shipment of chilled beef in gas, a South American Company has consigned a quantity from the River Plate which, despite the fact that it was carried at the remarkably high temperature of 305 deg. Fahr. arrived in London in a condition equal to that of the ordinary chilled consignment. The ordinary chilled beef temperature is 285 deg. Fahr. The general opinion however, is that there is very little prospect of South America depriving Australia of the fruits of its experimentation.
