ALLEGED DEATH OF MARE AND STUD FOAL CLAIM FOR £5000
— By Telegraph— -C ipyrlght).
(Rec. 9.55 p.m.) Sydney, Sept. 28. Giving evidence in the racing suit, George Bell v. Herbert Thompson aud S. Readford, a claim for £5000 following the death during foaling of the thoroughbred mare Sun Dear, Clive Inglis a blood stock • salesman, said that Sun Dear would be worth about 75 guineas at the end of her racing career and while carrying a foal to Heroic she would be worth about 175 guineas. Foaling risks were so great, however, that it would be a risky business giving a- high price for the mare prior to foaling, but with the foal at foot, their combined value would be greatly enhanced; witness added that although Sun Dear's sire, Blue Ensign, brought 1450 guineas as a yearling he was a failure as a sire. The hearing was adjourned. Bell is claiming £5000 for the death of the mare and foal from Thompson, who is the proprietor of a stud farm and Readford who is an assistant. It is alleged that the' mare and foal died as the result of inattention on the part oi Thompson during the foaling period. Sun Dear was a New Zealand horse.
