Large Plane Tree
A request was made by a ratepayer at Wednesday night's meeting of the Rotorua Borough Council that a large plane tree in Pukuatua Street, wh'ich he stated was obscuring the frontage of his business premises, should be removed. After some discussion it was decided not to remove the tree but to prune it back vigorously in order to give -reliief as requested by the ratepayer. The Mayor (Mr. T. Jackson) who opposed the removal of the tree, said that he did not consider planes, as a general rule, suitable trees for street planting but that this partieular tree was one of the largest and most striking in Rotorua. He thought that in view of its fine growth, some effort should be made to preserve it.
