FINALS AND SEMI-FINALS OF GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS CRICKET CLUB MEETS

Mamaku, Wednesday. The semi-finals and finals of the Mamaku Golf Cljuib .^champiotnship were completed during the week-end under difiicult weather conditions. Nevertheless good matches resulted, the final of the ladies match going! t0 the 19th before a decision was reached. Good performances were registered by Mr. and Mrs. F. Reed who annexed the A gradq men's and ladies championships respectively; and conceding from 5 to 12 strokfs. Mr. A. C. Price in conceding 5 strokes in • both semi-final iand final played steady golf to win the B champ'ionship from D. Carron, 2 up. Following are the results: — Ladies : — Semi-finals : Mrs. Reed defeated Miss J. Brennan, 4 and 3; Mrs. Kilgour defeated Miss Dysart, 1 up. Final: Mrs. Reed defeated Mrs. Kilgour 1 up iat the 19th. The loser after being down dormie 3, made a determincd effort and squared the match at the 18th only to lose the 19th by one stroke. Men's A Grade: Reed defeated Heather, 3 and 2; Simmonds defeated Cowper, 7 and 6. Finial. Reed defeated Simmonds, 7 and 6. The loser was unable to adapt himself to the bad weather conditions and under ordinary conditions the result would have been much closer. Men's B Grade: Price defeated Kelly, 2 up; Carron defeated Devine, 2 up.' Final — Price defeated Carron, 2 up. The Ladies B championship has not yet been finalised. Cricket Club The annual general meeting of the Mamaku Cricket Club was held on Tuesday evening when a good muster of members and intending members were present. After considerable discussion it was decided to once more enter a team in the Rotorua competitions and the necessary arrangements were put in hand. The following officers were elected. — President, Mr. A. Kilfoyle; vicepreslidents, Messrs A. Hemmings, C.Hemmings, H. W. Jones and F. J. Codd; committee, Messrs Reed, Lockie, McGuire, McGuffog and R. C. Beckett; secretary, R. G. Beckett; assistant secretary, J. McGuire; treasurer, K. Lockie; club captain, F. G. Reed; selection committee, Messrs Reed, Price iand McGuffog. The andications are that a reasonably strong team will be available.
