tarleton defeats kelso in splendid contest

Sydney, Aug. 21. At the Sydney Stadium this evening in a 15-round boxing contest, Nelson Tarleton (England) defeated Jimmy Kelso (Melbourne) on points. Tarleton (9st 121b), really defeated Kelso (9st 81b) twice. Kelso floored the Englishman with a low punch and the referee immediately crowned Tarleton the winner, but Tarleton refused to accept the decision, saying he was able to continue. The crowd of 12,000 saw a splendid exhibition of boxing, Tarleton being too fast and clever for the Australian. - .. .
