SUNDAY CONCERTS
WELLINGTON CABARET PROPRIETORS FINED IGNORANCE OF LAW Wellington, Thursday "I think the matter was fairly arguable, and probably the concerts were put on in ignorance that they constituted a breach of the law," said Mr. Page, S.M., in a reserved judgment to-day, when he eonvieted and ordered the proprietors of the Mayfair Cabaret and Ihe receiver for Ritz, Ltd., to pay eourt costs on charges of keeping open their premises for the purpose of transacting business on Sundays. What was in. d'ispute was the concert part of the proceedings. Mr. Page held that it was a matter of degree, and in the case in question he considered that the music was more than ineidental to the consumption of refreshments, and that it was concert-promoting.
