KINGSFORD SMITH MAKES SEARCH ON SOUTHERN CROSS PROBABLE DRIFT IN CURRENTS

Saturday's search for the missing collier, Christina Fraser, in which the Southern Cross piloted by Air-Com-modore Sir Kingsford S'mith participated, was fruiFfiss. Captain Thundercombe, chief surveyor of the Navigation Department at Melbourne, says that assuming that the Christina Fraser's eligines were disabled when she was seen by the Cora Nui off Gabo on June. 24, the ship may have been carried toward New Zealand by the sea currents. The drift would be at the rate of about 15 miles per day. An Air Force flying boat returned to Eden at 4.10 p.m. after a liickless search. The Southern Cross will make another search to-day.
