There w.ere 550 arrests on Monday ais the result of another intense Nazi drive. .Pririces, counts, barons, and | highly-placed staff-offieers Were inj cluded among those detairied as well i as , Spcialists and Communists. Two | 'hundred arr.ests were made in Magdeburg alone. The arrests were most numerous in Bavaria where there is.a special impetus given , to the Nazi anger hy •Catholic. criticism of the Draconian measures, they have adqpted, Herr . Hitler hopes that if bll the leaders are cast into prisori -the nonNazi pubiic will .be so cowed that it will submit. As.the Chancellor said in a reeent interview: "Pariiaments ar.e doomed. All successfui enterprises must he run with the basis of dictatprship." . The intensity of Hitler's attack on the Nationalists Was shown to-night when a meeting which Dr. Hugenburg was addressmg at the Kroll lOpera House was hanned at the last .minute, despite the fact that Dr. Hugenburg is still a member of the Cahinet.
