CARD EVENING

FOR BAND FUNDS The first of a series of card evenings, which is to be followed by a dance each evening was held by the Whakatane Citizens Band in the band room on Thursday evening, to raise funds for the band. There was a large attendance and all present had a very enjoyable time. The successful prize winners were Mrs. Morgan, ladies, and Mr. Baxter, gentlemen. The consolation prize went to Mr. G. Rogers, A dainty supper was served by the ladies committee: Mesdames E. Clarke, F. Clarke and B. Jarrett, after which the band played modern and old time dances.
