CREW OF STEAMER AGREE TO STAND DOWN FOR MONTH

Sydney, May 25. The members of the crew of the ■inter-State steamer Aeon, who have been working for six months or more gave the owners 24 hours' notice that :they intend to allow unemployed members of the Seamen's union to take their places for a month. The ration scheme. was confirmed by a ■ special meeting of the Seamen's Un- ; ion and is now effeetive. A special meeting of the Seamen's Union ,held in Sydney at the. beginning of May, decided to introduce rationing employment. A resolution was carried to compel all seamen after 1 being employed on a vessel for six months to stand down for one. month.
