BELIEVED LOST IN WILDS OF NORTHERN TIBET SEARCH EXPEDITION
— By Telegraph — Copyright) .
Rec. May 10, 8 p.m. Peking, May 10. The Swedish explorer, Sven Hedin, who is aged 68 years, is seeking Nanking's permission to lead a mixed Sino-foreign expedition into Sinkiang to search for Dr. Nils Ambolt, the Swedish scientist, who has been missing in the wilds of Central Asia since November. Six months ago, Ambolt lost his caravan and 80 camels during a terrifie snow storm among the mountains in northern Tibet, and was forced to abandon the results of four years' research, and in addition, his collection of scientific instruments. He then proceeded afoot toward Cherchen, an oasis, 400 miles northward of Urumchi, and has not been since heard of. Recent Moliammedan rising in Sinkiang have increased fears of his safety. ,
