st. luke's show SUCCESSFUL FIXTURE WITH CONCERT IN THE EVENING A COLOURFUL DISPLAY The annual flower and chrysanthemum show in connection with St. Luke's Church was held yesterday in Peerless hall and once again proved a most successful function. The dis- . play of blooms set a high standard and made a most colourful display. In the evening a most enjoyable ■social was held. wh'en a bright concert programme was given by the Ohinemutu Ma,ori choir. The show was officially opened by the vicar, Archdeacon F. W. Chatterton, who also extended thank3 to all lielpers and to the Maori choir members for their assistance. During the afternoon, Mrs. W. T. Pakes with Misses J. Meredith, J. Bertram and J. Barber as assistants served afternoon tea to the many visitors. All blooms were auctioned in the evening. The judges were Mes~dames IG. Urquhart and J. M. Roberts and Mr. Hesketh. Results of the judging were: — CLASS 1-5. (Stewards: Mrs. Meredith and Mrs French'.) Open, 12 varieties (one bloom of •each) : Mrs. J. Tyson 1, Miss Searell 2. Concert In Evening The concert programme given in the evening was as follows: — Hymn by choir; duet by Mrs. Bonnington and Mrs. J. Hakaraia (Nocturne); Maori anthem by choir; solo, Mrs. Bonnington (Maori Slumber Song); quartette (Maori Medley); hymn by choir; quartette ("Sweet and Low.").
