NEW SCHOOL COMMITTEE ELECTED FOR YEAR MEETING OF HOUSEHOLDERS (From Our Own Correspondent). Reporoa, Thursday. The annual general meeting of householders, held on Monday night in the school, was attended by nineteen parents. Mr. R. W. Dunbar was voted to the chair. The annual report, headmaster's report and balance sheet were read. tl . . , The balance sheet disclosed a satisfactory balance in the bank, but no major work had been done by the committee owing to lack of funds. , • A motion was carried that the Minister of Education be informed that the alteration in the school entrance age to six years did not meet with, the approval of the par-ents. The following- were elected to the committee for the ensuing year:^— Messrs. R. W. Dunbar (chairman) , Don McL. Ldwis (secretary), B. W. Friis, A. J. Gillanders, W..W. M-eikle. W.E.A. Branch At a meeting held recently it was decided to form a branch of the W.E.A. Association. Mr. H. D. Wilson was appointed leader and Mr. A. S. Edmonds, secretary. Correspondence courses are to be .taken and some 12 members were enrolled. ' ; *i General Notes The W.D., N.Z.F.U. local branch, is holding a gaiety night on Friday next in aid of their general funds.. The sum of £2 2s was recently f orwarded to the "Community Chest" and it is hoped to make up this amount again. (N.B. — The "Community Chest" is a sort of Dominion benevolent fund). For the first time since Christmas the mountains Tongariro, Ruapehu, and Ngauruhoe have been covered with snow. This is since Saturday last and it lies right to the f oothills. The first heavy frost of the season was experienced on Wednesday morning.
