— By Telegraph — Copyright).
Brisbane, February 13. Continued heavy rains in the Herbert and Tully areas caused the Herbert and Tully Rivers to rise steadily. The former is six f eet over the bridge at Herberton, and the Tully nine feet over the Tully bridge. Flood conditions prevail along the Bellenden Plains, where the railway line is submerged to a depth of three feet for a considerable distance. As the Western Mail was approaching the flooded creek near Marathon, the bridge over the water collapsed but the train was stopped in time. Brealtdown gangs have been unable to reach the disahled train beeause of further washaways on either side.
