TUBERCULOSIS AND SMALLPOX PREVALENT IN PUNJAB

Rec. Dec. 23. Calcutta, December 22. The absence of rain is responsible for a severe epidemic of smallpox in many towns and villages in the Punjab. Nearly 1000 have died in eight weeks in Lahore, where tuberculosis is also rampant, due to had sanitation and food adulteration. Of 2000 who contracted the disease in the last 12 months, 600 died.
