LEAGUE COUNCIL'S CONCERN AT DISTURBING STATISTICS Rec. Dec. 23. Genva, December 22. According to the League of Nations' trade review for the first half of 1932 compared with 1931 the American trade dropped in value hy 67.5 per cent. German by 60, British hy 57, French hy 54. The average world drop was one-third. The prices of food-stuffs and raw materials have now declined 50 per cent. wheat and wool more heavily, whereas the prices of manufactured goods have not conformed to this deeline. The review emphasises that if the trade disorganisation is not checked many countries will he unable to maintain the already low standard of living.
