HERTZOG ANTICIPATING AN ADVERSE VOTE

Rec. Dec. 23. Capetown, Dec. 22. The political situation has not developed as it was expected it would. It now transpires that Judge Tielman Roos took the plunge in his attack on the National Government without consulting General Smuts, consequently ?. coalition is impraeticable. At present General Smuts, leader of the South African party, is on a shooting trip. All his supporters pledge themSelves not to allow him to be sidetracked. General Hertzog has advised his supporters that the session will last for three weeks, which is accepted as anticipating defeat.
