Dunedin, Tuesday. Referring to hysterical rumours in the course of his speech last evenin'g, the Minister of Finance, the Hon. Downie Stewart, said that it was widely believed in Auckland that he had brought back such bad news from overseas that he dare hot disclose it, that in consequenee Parliament had immediately adjourned, and that startling disclosures would be made in January. Such rumours were mischievous and unfounded, the Minister ttecla'r- [ ed. The plain fact was that Parlia- ■ ment adjourned for the reason stated by the Prime Minister.
