SWIMMING

CARNIVAL MEETING ROTORUA CLUB'S SPORTS IN MAIN BLUE BATH ENTRIES CLOSING SHORTLY With the completiori of th'e mairi pool at the Blue Baths, the Rotorua Swimming Club has arranged a most attractive programme which should do a great deal to popularise the bath. The club proposes to hold a grand carnival on evening of Tuesday, December 27, and already th'e indications are that the notable •success achieved at the club's initial Hieeting some weeks ago will be repeated. The success of this first carnival proved the value of the provision of up-to-date swimming facilities for the town. These facilities have now been considerably augmented as a result of the completion of the main pool— and with this additional advantage, the success of future swimming meetings should be fully assured. More Accommodation Sucesssful as the first effort was, thg. club has now even better facilities at its disposal and with a standard size swimming pool, the carnival to be held on Tuesday, December 27 will be all the more interesting and will enable compatitors times to be compared with standard times for the various distances. The experience gained by the committee at the previous meeting and the unexpectedly large attendance, has imp-rssed upon the club the necessity of • providing additional seating accommodation for its patrons. With accommodation of a length of over 300 feet on the bath level and the additional space available on the overhead promenade baleony, it will be possible to provide seats for many more patrons. The programme arranged for December 27 is even more ambitious than in the first effort and includes events for children, adults of both sexes, and entertaining novelty events. Already entrie3 are beginning to 'be received and the closing date for the receipt of these nominations will be Tuesday next, December 20. The handicapping of entrants for the many events will occupy many hours and therefore the committee would be greatly assisted by the 'early nomination of intending competitors.
