WOLF CUB PACK (Notes by the Cub Mistress).

The first Rotorua pack met as usual at St. Luke's last Saturday afternoon when 21 cubs were present. After the grand howl the various patrols were inspected and points awarded accordingly. To-day I am going to tell you the meaning of the first part of the cub law. As you know, the law is as follows: — (1) The cub gives in to the old wolf. (2) The cub does not give in to himself. "To give in to the old wolf" means that you obey your mistress, Akela and her helpers, and your sixer. But the law does not only stop with the pack. It tells you to give in to your father and mother, to your teaeher, and to anyone who knows better than you do. Old Baloo who taught the jungle laws to Mowgli had many wise sayings, here is one of them: — "There is none like to me," says the cub in the pride of hi3 earliest kill; But the jungle is large and the cub he is small. Let him think and be still." My next article will explain the second law.
