PRODUCE MARKET

CHEAP POTATOES Auckland, Tuesday. Potatoes are selling at lower prices than for many years. Very little business is going through merchants' stores, as most of the wholesale ord'ers are supplied direct from trucks at Pukekohe, while city requirements are obtained very largely from the ' auction Jmarkets, also direct from suburban growers. The Pukekohe merchants opened the week with a substantial drop to 6s per cwt, but even this quotation failed to hold, and this morning 5s per cwt. was quoted, being less than half the price ruling at the same period last year.
