NEW GOVERNOR

A WICKLOW FARMER ■Rec. Nqv. 9, 5.0 p,m, London, November 8. It is understood that Mr, Robert Barton, a signatory of the Anglo-Irish Treaty, will be chosen to succeed Mr. James O'Neill as Governor-General of tha Free State, Mr. Robert Childers Barton is 51 years of age, and is a farmer in County Wicklow. He was chairman of the Wicklow County Council in 1920 and served in the European war. He was Sinn Fein member for West Wicklow from Deeember 1918-22 and member of tbe Dail Eireann for County Kildare and Wicklow, 1921-23. In 1919-21, he was Minister of Agricul-' ture and 1921-22, he was Secretary for Economic Affairs. He was a member of the Irish Peace delegation to London in 1921.
