WEDDING

CONEY — FRANKLIN A pretty wedding was eelebrated at St. George's Chureh, Whakatane on Wednesday, October 19, the contracting parties being Phyllis Belle, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Franklin, of Whakatane, and Norman Selwyn, only son of Mr. V. Coney, of Mt. Eden, Auckland. The church was artistically decorated for the occasion in cream banksian roses, pink cherry blossom and white azalea. The Rev. S. F. N. Waymouth officiated and the wedding music was played by Mrs. A. Bridger. The bride who entered the church on the arm of her father, looked charming in a frock of ivory angel skih. lace, cut on long flowing lines. Her veil of silk net was caught at the sides with orange blossom forming a train. She carried a sheaf of arum lilies. The bride- was attended by her sisters, Misses Gwen and Gladys Frqnklin, who were gowned j alike in frocks of nil green and salmon pink angel slcin, silk net, and valenciennes lace, respectively. Both bridesmaids wore crinoline hats trimmed with angel skin satin to tone, and carried bouquets of pink carnations and maiden hair f ern and pink sweet peas and maiden hair fern. -The bridegroom was attended by Mr. G. V. Turnbull as best man and Mr. Le F. Waugh as groomsman. After the ceremony, a reception was held in the Parish Hall, where Mrs. Franklin received her guests in a smart frock of black georgette and lace. She wore a small black hat, trimmed with white ostrich feathers and carried a bouquet of red rose Tbuds. Miss Cooney (aunt of the bridegroom) wore a frOck of figured silk crepe in shades of fawn and apple green with a fawn hat to tone. Her bouquet was of mauve stock and maiden hair fern. The happy couple were farewelled by friends at the residence of the bride's parents and left by car for Wellington. The bride travelled in a frock of nattier blue sungleam silk, and a nattier blue coat of wool charmaline with hat to tone.
