CROQUET OPENING
PROGRESSIVE TOURNAMENT There was a large attendance of members present at the op'aning of the Rotorua Croquet Cluh last Tuesday afternoon. The president, Mrs. W. H. Speer, formally welcomed all present, expressing gratification at the excellent condition of the lawns, and wished the cluh a happy and successful season. It was gratifying to note, added the president, that Rotorua was once more to have the privilege of having the South Auckland Association tournament held on the club lawns and she expressed the hope that the local players would he well represented on that occasion. A progressive tournament occupied most of the afternoon, which was happily brought to a conclusion with a dainty afternoon tea at the Kiosk. The winners in the A Section were: Mrs. J. R. Blencowe and Mrs. W. W. P. Hall, while Mrs. Hammond and Mrs. Hesketh were successful in; the B division. Among the players present were: Mrs. W. H. Speer, Mrs. W. L. Richards, Mrs. is. ivi.
