FIRE FIGHTING
ANNUAL COMPETITION TO BE HELD TO-DAY. CYCLING handicaps. To-day (Labour Day) an interesting display will be witnessed at the Government Grounds when the annual competition between Bay of Plenty Fire Brigades for possession of the Chilton Cup will be held. The competitions whicb are de-
signed to test the efliciency of the brigades will be competed for by teams from Tauranga, Te Puke, Whakatane, Opotiki and Rotorua and will n'o doubt attract a large attendance. A special ti-tree hut has been ereeted on the ground and during the afternoon this will be set alight and a display of fire-fighting given by the Rotorua brigade. In addition to the fire brigade competitions, the organisers have provided a series of cyele races to be run under the N.Z.A.A.A. rules, and for these most of the Rotorua Amateur Athletic and Gyeling Club members have entered. The cycling events and the handicaps of riders arranged by Mr. F. A. Hayward will be as follow: — Maiden Handicap 1 mile — ^H. Bellini (scr.), G. Haycock (15yds.), R. Haycock (25yds), C. Head (25yds). i Mile Handicap — M. Bell (scr), S. Howe (10yds.), R. Dawson (20 yds ), H. Bellini (20yds.), N. Howe (25yds.), G. Haycock and R. Lillas (30yds.), C. Head and R. Haycock (35yds.). 1 Mile Handicap — M. Bell (scr.), N. Howe and R. Dawson (35yds.), S. Howe and II. Bellini (40yds.), R. Lillas (50yds.), G. Haycock (55yds.), C. Head and R. Haycock (65yds.), 2 Milo Handicap— M. Bell (scr.), N. Howe (50yds.), R. Dawson (60 yds.), S. Howe and H. Bellini (70 yds.), G. Haycock (80yds.), C. Head and R. Haycock (90yds.).
