Games Postponed. Heavy rains during th'3 week again spoilt the commencement of the 1932 cricket season, the grounds being too heavy to make play possible. AL thoug.._ ihe afternoon was only marred with occasional showers, the bowling greens were also closed to prevent any damage to the greens!. Many Visitors . Throughout yesterday many of the visitors spending the week-end in Rotorua took the opportunity of visiting the thermal regions of Whakarawerawa, and the guides were kept busy conducting parties round the reserve. Ohinemutu also received its measure of visitors. Movie of Rotorua It was the intention of the Fox Movietone Company to "shoot" several Maori scenes at Whakarewarewa yesterday morning, but owing to the bad light this was found to he impossible. Should the weather prove suitable it is intended to make a commencement with the film this morning, after which other scenes will probably be taken at Mourea and in other parts of the district, Camping in the Rain Many visiting motorists are spending the week-end in camp at the borongh conncil mptor camp site in Ranolf Street. Despite the heavy rain the majority have decided to remain at the camp, there being about 20 at the site last evening. Busy Railway Station An animated scene was witnessed at the Rotorua railway station on Saturday evening when a large erowd of residents awaited the arrival of the special excursion train from Auckland. The train comprised nine carriages, which were all fairly well filled with excursionists. Tribute to the Police. A high tribute to the New Zealand police force was paid by the Rev. Alexander Reese, a missionary from Brazil, at a valedictory gathering in Christchurch. He said that the magnificent standard of the police force was one of New Zealand's greatest blessings and was one of the greatest guarantees of civilisation. If they wanted to see the difference they would find it in South America, where he had known people to flee in terror from th'eir villages when they heard that the police were coming. "Whenever I see a New Zealand policeman I feel like taking my hat off to him, as he is the greatest friend of the community," said Mr. Reese.
