SKILFULLY HANDLED

SYDNEEY HOWARD'S ACTING IN HUMOROUS NAUTICAL STORY. ' "SPLINTERS IN THE NAVY." "A nautical medley of merriment" is how one prominent English film critie describes the latest British Dominions film, "Splinters in the Navy," which will op-en at the Majestic Theatre on Monday. A very popular collation of music, and songs, together with the "frozen faced" comedian, Sydney Howard, in the starring role, makes "Splinters in the Navy" A1 entertainment, and of that variety which will be enjoyed hy all. Walter Forde, the director of the film, has skilfully handled Howard in a role that is particularly suitable for his type of humour, and h'e has supplied him a background which shows this brilliant comedian to his very best advantage. The famous "beauty chorus" renders dance and song items and generally conducts itself as young "ladies" should. Hal Jones and Reg Stone, who has the distinction of being the finest female impersonator in the world, provide much humour. This is a pieture which everybody I should see if their requisite standard j of entertainment calis for plenty of j good, clean, wholesome fun.
