BUCK JONES PICTURE

f WELL-KNOWN WESTERN STAR IN THE "DEADLINE." AN EXCELLENT CAST. When Buck Jones, astride of Silver, his famous white horse, dashes across the screen in pursuit of a runaway team of horses dragging a swaying, lurching scurry in which Loretta Sayers in the back seat is hanging on like grim death, the shivers play a delightful game of tag up and down your vertehrae. This is one of the thrills in "The Deadline," starring Buck Jones, which opens on Thursday at the Grand Theatre. Buck is sent to prison on a fiveyear sentence for a crime he did not commit. He is convinced that, if he is given sufficient time, he can obtain evidence that will lead to the clearing of his name and reinstatment in the eyes of the community. Good be- | haviour on his part gains for him a parole anu he returns to the little town of Colfax to start life anew, and, if possible, capture the man wh'o was responsible for the crime of which he had been convicted. While standing the jeers and taunts of his townfolk and purposely staying away from his sweetheart until he has cleared his name, Buck has a ! hard time of it. As an ex-convict, he is suspected of any crime which occurs in the town, and when a murj der is committed he is arrested, despite a perfect alibi, and incarcerated in the local gaol. How he escapes, traeks down the real murderer, clears his name and wins the lady of his heart's desire, form an interesting and plausible story. The action scenes are well done and, coupled with excellent j photography, oeautiful exterior scenes, the^ thrill of the chase and excellent I acting, "The Deadline" is corking entertainment. Loretta Sayers, as Helen, George Emest as Jimmy, Knute Erickson as Otto and Robert Ellis as Ira Coleman give splendid performances. Buck Jones, as usual, does some fine riding und splenuid acting.
