EAST COAST NOTES 1 WEEK-END OF FESTIVITIES Last week-end was one of festivities, writes our East Coast correspondent. On Saturday evening a children's concert arranged by the schoolmaster, Mr. Forbes, and staff was held in the meeting house at Raukokore. A large number of people attended and the concert was a great success financially. The sehool children sang part songs and the boys gave hakas in native costume. At Te Kaha, on Saturday evening, a football dance took place, at which' the Waititi Cup and Shield were pre-
sented. The juniors were winners ' of the cup and the seniors of the shield. During the evening Mr. R. C. Helm, president of the football club, presented the shield to the team. On Saturday evening another dance was held at Omaio which is also on the coast road, between Te Kaha and Opotiki. This function was also well patronised and was run by the Tennis Club. On Saturday next, the Maungaroa Cricket Club, which has recently been formed, is holding a dance at Maungaroa and the club hopes.that it will be as well supported as the football dance at Te Kaha.
