PRICES AT MORRINSVILLE SHOW FIRMING TENDENCY Hamilton, Monday. The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, report: — At Morrinsville sale on Friday a good yarding of sheep came forward, prices being slightly firmer than last sale. An extra heavy yarding of eattle came forward, ox beef being slightly easier, while fat cows fully maintained outside values. A good yarding of yearling heif ers sold readily at late quotations. There was a medium yarding of dairy cattle which met with fair competition. Pigs: — The largest yarding of pigs for the season came forward, there being 835 pigs penned. There were no prime heavy baconers yarded, but competition was good on all classes of fats and large stores. Good slips and weaners were also keenly sought after, but poorer sorts became dull towards the end of the sale. Practically all pigs yarded were sold at the hammer at satisfactory prices. Several outside buyers were. present, being in the market for large stores. Quotations : — Fat wethers, woolly to 14s 3d; shorn, 11s lOd to 12s; fat ewes, fourth, woolly, 12s; fat* ewes, shorn, 7s 3d to 10s; prime fat hoggets, 12s to 13s 9d; lighter, 10s 2d to 10s lOd; aged ewes with lambs at foot, 8s 6d; fat steers, £5 ls to £5 11s; fat cows and heif ers, £3 3s to £3 15s; fat heif ers, £3 7s 6d to £4 15s; heavy fat cows, £4 to^£5 6s; medium fat cows, £3 to £3 18s; light fat cows, £2 to £2 12s 6d; ldllable cows, £1 10s to £1 16s; fresh store cows, £1 to £1 7s; boners, 10s to 19s; 2-year S.H. steers, £1 18s to £2 4s; 2-year Fresian steers, £1 7s 6d to £1 9s; 3-year Fresian steers to £2 3s ; 2-year empty heif ers, £1 7s 6d to £2 10s; best yearling Jersey heif ers, £3 15s to £4 11s; medium sorts, £2 2s to £3 4s; inferior sorts, £1 10s to £1 15s; potter bulls, £1 5s to £2 15s.
