McLeod, admitted to-day that. the cessation of work by the slaughtermen was general, but declined to make a statement. Tiie men. ceased work to-day at Petone and Ngahauranga, but the city couricil's abattoirs are still working. The position is causing interest regarding the eity's meat supply, a large proportion of which is killed at - Ngahauranga.
