Auckland, Monday. Slaughtermen and freezing works' employees, at meetings held in Auckland and Horotiu; during the weekend, decided riot to accept the new wage-s and terms of employment offered by the meat export freezing companies. The union has been notified that the new terms will come into operation to-day:, while on the- nbtice-s posted in eaeh works it is stated that they will be enforced as from today throughout the 1932-33, season. The decision of the men means that no killing will take place at free-zirig works in the Auckland Provinee to-day. The works affe.cted are Westfield, Southdown a'nd Horotiu. The: w.brks at Moerewa, North Auckland,' have not yet opened for the seasori," while the decision will not concern works iri the Gisborne district, which will be subjeet to a separate vote by the men, who comprise a sub-union.
