MAN STUNNED AND- WINDOWS BROKEN BY THE DELUGE DAMAGE IN BRISBANE
-By Teleg'-aph — O pyright)
Brisbane, Monday. Several centres in the Darling Downs were visited during the weekend hy severe storms. About 7000 aeres of wheat were flattened, fruit trees and vines being stripped. Hundreds of windows have been broken and many roofs of homes pierced. A terrific hailstorm over the northern suburbs -of Brisbane caused extensive damage. Hailstones measuring up to 2-j inches across, dented the roofs, crashed through windows and killed poultry. Hoods of motor-cars caught in the storm looked as if they had been under machine-gun fire. One piece of ice weighed a ciuarter of a pound. A city-bound train had every window shattered on the weather side. Passangers sought shelter under the e-eats. The engine-driver was stunned hy a hailstone. A wonian on the Nudgee railway station was also struck down.
