VERY SATISFACTORY
PAYMENT OF RATES PLEASES BOROUGH COUNCIL. "Very satisfactory indeed in view of the general financial position of the times," remarked the Mayor, Mr. T. Jackson, at WednesdayV meeting of the Rotorua Borough Council when the following statement of the coming in of the rates was tabl'ed: — iRates levied, 1932-33, £12,422 2s 3d; eollected, £6353 8s 2d. Rates levied, 1930, £12,271 17s 3d; eollected to last discount day, £7612 18s lOd; then outstanding, £4658 18s 5d. Per cent. eollected, 62.11. Rates levi'ed, 1931, £12,246 17s 3d; eollected to last discount day £8360 15s 3d; th'en outstanding £3886 2s. Per cent. eollected, 67.91. . Rates levied, 1932, £12,422 2s 3d; eollected to last discount day, £6353 8s 2d; then outstanding, £6068 14s ld. Per cent. eollected, 51.11. Cr. Urquhart drew attention to the fact that over £4000 had come in since October 1, and said that for this reason the finance committee had not tabled its usual half-yearly statement.
