NAPIER WATERSIDERS DEMAND OLD RATES OF PAY

-By Telegraph — Copyrlght)

Napier, Tuesday. When a call was made this morning for extra labour to work the Poolta, the watersiders declin'ed to work, insisting on the old award rates of pay. However, men engaged yesterday, continued to work under the new rate. The feeling among local watersiders appears to be that it is time something definite was done by the conference of the watersiders and employers at Wellington. The next call for labour will be tomorrow morning, when the Taua will require labour to discharge her old cargo. It is expected that the watersiders will not respond to the call.
