HOCKEY TEAMS

J.

RUSSELL.

Morning Post).

(To the Editor). Sir, — In regard to bockey matches played lately, both representative and other matches. Are there only two teams in this district that are eligible? If not, it certainly appears that is the case, in the last rep match especially. What happened to the Reporoa and Mourea teams that none were included, surely Mourea, the finalists, can rais-e a good player or two? VVhy should Te Puke players, who never enter into the club matches, be included in rep teams? — I am, etc.

Rotorua, Sept. 12. Note: — The secretary of the Rotorua Ladies' Hockey Association( Mr. C. J. Casey), when asked for a statement stated that, unknown to tbe correspondent, three Reporoa players were originally selected in the team, but when inquiries were made the selectors were advised that all were unavailable. With referenee to the Mourea Club, Mr. Casey said the team ehosen to play last Saturday was the only one in "\yhich Mourea was not represented this season, and that the selection of the team was in the hands of the selectors, who ehose the players they considered most "apable, irrespective of clubs. As an affiliated club of the Rotorua Association the Te Puke Club members are equally entitled to recognition as representative players, with loeal clubs, and on the results of last Saturday's game against Kerepeehi, he considered their inclusion was justified.
