AUSTRALIA DEALS WITH TROUBLE MAKING REDS Rec. Sep. 4, 5.5 p.m. Sydney, Sep. 4. The Federal Government, acting in conjunction with the State authorities, is taking drastic action to suppress Communist and similar illegal ox-ganisations in New South Wales and Victoria. Owners of premises in Sydney and Melbourne, where Communist activities are carried out, have been served with official notices, prohibiting holding meetings by these bodies. The penalty for disobedience is a fine of £100 or in default six months' imprisonment. The State police have been directed to insist on the obseiwance of the law. The Commonwealth Attorney General, Mr. J. G. Latham, explained that since the Lyons Government took office, 53 Communists have been deported.
