THE WORST OVER
TROUBLE IN WAIRARAPA
Carterton, Tuesday. Fiood waters in the Wairarapa have fallen and risen again, but in the northern area the worst is considered to be over. Heavy losses of sheep and cattle are reported. The Waiohine River again heavily flooded the Carterton-Greytown Road last night. To-day the waters receded. The roadway is still flooded, but is passable for traffic. The Kolcotau district is completely isolated. The settlers' dwellings are dotted about in little islands. It is the worst visitation for many years. Rain is still falling, but it is much lighter. The Rimutaka Road is still unsafe.
