CHILDREN'S BALL
PLAIN AND FANCY DRESS DANCE HELD AT WAIOEKA A children's^ plain and fancy dress dance was held in the Waioeka Hall on Wednesday evening. The room was brightly decorated in coloured streamers, and the Dixie Boys Orchestra supplied the music. Mr. W. Reece made a very competent M.C. . Those present in fancy dress were: M. Anderson (Ace of Hearts), R. Bennett (springtime fairy), T. Bennett (robber), S. Kirkbride (sailor boy), Y. Gordon (gollywog), D. Davies (rooster), D. Anstis (little boy Iblue), E. Lee (fashions), D. Irwin (farm hand). Others present were: — Misses F. Reece (pink frilled crepe de chine), J. Wylde (mauve georgette), W. Tennant (green taffeta), C. Lee (black satin), L. Lee (mauve satin), K. Anderson (blue satin), M. Thompson (red satin), E. Butler (blue satin), L. Bennett (black georgette), E. Semple (green georgette), N. Davies (pink taffeta), D. Burnett (lemon satin), J. Kelly (whit'e georgette), G. Burrett (blue taffeta), N. Tyrie (black satin beaute), D. Kelly (brown ensemble), D. Young (green satin), J. Fairweather (green taffeta), D. Davies (pink shot taffeta), J. Noble (floral voile), E. Scott (flame satin), K. Clark (pink satin), E. Pratt (green satin). Mesdames Boon, Appleton, E. Thompson, G. Anderson, D. Lee. Prizes were awarded to: "Springtime fairy," "Ace of Hearts," "Fashions"; most original "Gollywog"; most humorous "Gollywog;" "Rooster," "Little Boy Blue," "Sailor Boy"; most original "Robber"; most humorous "farm hand."
