GOOD RESPONSE TO NEW SYSTEM OF PAYMENT BY INSTALMENT

Wellington, Thursday. The immedate response by income tax payers to the. f acilities afforded "or the payment of the tax in instal.nents is regarded as very satisfactory. The Hon. G. W. Forbes stated today that during the first month they bad been on issue, certificates to the vmlue of £32,000 had been purchased. The revenue expected from the in--ome tax was stated by the Hon. Downie Stewart last session to be esjimated at tentatively £3,500,000.
