RELIEF FIGURES

TO BE PUBLISHED MONTHLY INSTEAD OF WEEKLY IN FUTURE Wellington, Thursday. The practice of publishing unemployment figures, which has been in weeldy -operation for a considerable period, is to be'discontinued according to a decision by the Unemployment Board and the Acting-Minister of Employment (Hon. A. Hamilton). In future, returns will be issued each month. The publication ,of the figures stopped over two years ago, but was revived when Mr. S. G. Smith took over the office of Minister of Labour in the United Government. Since then, figures have been given weekly. It is understood that the opinion is held that more eomprehensive and reliable returns could he furnished monthly than can be compiled weekly.
