threat to jews INTIMIDATION ALLEGED BY WORLD JEWISH CONGRESS "BECOMING COWARDS"

Rec. Aug. 16, 11 p.m. GENEVA, Tuesday. "Hitlerism will become a challenge and olfence against all Jews, unless speedily curbed. The Jewish forees must unite in self defence," said Dr. Joseph Tenembaum, chairman of the American Jewish Congress, speaking at the ivorld Jewish TTongress. He added that the Nazis are spreading anti-Semitism in many countries. He. .recalled that the Jews had supplied 17 per cent. of the German army in war-time and that 12 per cent. are buried on the battlefield. Another speaker declared that the Jews in Germany were down and out, and that the chances of recovery were lessened by the tendency to oust Jews from economic life, com- j bined Avith poisoning- the minds of ; youth. A Polish speaker said that the rea- j son why so few Jews were attending the conference, was that they had become cowards. "We have," he said, "come here to launch a protest throughout the world against the present treatment of Jews." Dr. Motzik expressed the opinion that Palestine holds the future of the Jewish raee. When most of the J ews were there, their enemies would speak and act dilrerently.
