INVERCARGILL, Monday. At the Supreme Court, Thomas "itaung Penman (26) was sentenced by Mr. Justice Kcnnedy to eighteen months' refoHnative detention for stealing £211 from tae Soutaland . Oounty Council by whom he was employed as a clerk. Counsel stated taat tae money had not gone for vicious purposes. Accused had been paying off flax shares, - and to keep up the payments borowed from a money-lender, getting into difficulties. Restitution had heen made.
