LAST NIGHT'S MEETING MITCHELL SHIELD GAMES TO COMMENCE NEXT SATURDAY NGONGOTAHA WITHDRAWS In conveying his congratulations to the Rotorua High School on its success against the Auckland Grammar team last Saturday, Mr. T. S. Robertson president of the Rotorua Rugby Sub-Union, said that the tackling and tactics' of the schoolboys should prove an object lesson to the players in the Rotorua senior grades, and moved that an amount of £5 be donated to the school sports fund by the union. The proposal was carried unanimously. In connection with the Horohoro junior team, which has defaulted in its last two matches, the secretary was instructed to request a definite reply from the club at the next meeting, otherwise the team would be deieted from the competition games. A letter from the Waikato Union advising that in future the replacement of players would not be permitted was received, the union deciding to accept the ruling and request that the Waikato delegate at the special meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union to consider the position, be instructed to express . opposition to the ruling. The president congratulated the Whaka Club on winning the senior championship for the present season and it was decided to open the Mitchell Shield competition next Saturday. The Ngonngotaha Club advised that owing to shortage of players, it had been found necessary to withdraw the second Junior B team from the competition.
