PLUNKET AFTERNOON

ROTORUA SUB-BRANCH. Last Friday afternoon Mrs. S. H. Hay, president of the Rotorua subbranch of the Plunket Society entertained the Plunket mothers ar.d members of the committee at a social afternoon at the Dolly Varden tearcom. The rooms were prettily arranged with spring flowers and foliage and Mrs. Hay received her guests in a bottle-green ensemble suit. and hat to tone. In welcoming the guests, the president expressed her pleasure in meeting some of the yonnger mothers and took the opportunity of apologising for the unavoidable absence of Mrs. A. J. Isdale, a Ngongotaha member of the committee. Mrs. Hay said she hoped those present would realise that her committee was always ready to do anything to help the young mothers of Rotorua, and regretted that it had been found necessary to curtail the nurse's visits to one day a week for this year. There was plenty of room for new members, added the speaker, and a larger membership would aid the financial position of the society considerably. The president then introduced two visitors from Whakatane branch. Mrs. C A. Suckling, the president, and Mrs. Sutcliffe, the secretary. The latter gave a brief outline of the aims and objects of the Plunket work, and expressed the hope that mothers would do all they could to aid the nurse and the committee to carry on the grcd work they had done in the past.
