AUCKLAND, Monday. The Auckland Coal Dealers' Association announces an increase in the price of household and kitchen coal. The new rates, which represent an advance of 9d a sack in the price of household coal, and 7d in fche price of kitchen coal, signify a truce in the coal price war which has been in progress since the "Wilton Collieries commenced cutting prices last May. The new prices have not, however, been raised to the same rata ruling before the "war," household coal beins1 still Is a sack lower.
and kitchen coal 9d a sack lower than last year's quotations. The new priee for household coal is 5s 3d a sack, compared with 4s 6d, and kitchen coal 4s 9d, compared with 4s 2d. The first step in the movement for increasing the abnormally low rates that ruled during the price war was taken by the Waikato coal mine owners, who resolved their differences sufficiently to arrive at a mutual decision to raise the price of coal. It is understood that the Wilton company, while still remaining outside the Waikato Coal Mine Owners' Association, agreed to fall into line in the present price fixation.
